My Services

Experience personalised pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support from a known and trusted midwife.

I offer in-home visits, homebirth and collaborative medical care when required. My service areas include Bunbury, Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River and surrounds.

My Specialties

  • Every mother’s journey is unique, yet too often, maternity care is restricted by a one-size-fits-all approach that leaves women feeling unheard or unsupported. A personalised approach means I take the time to listen, understand, and connect with you — your preferences, concerns, and goals — and shape my care to meet your individual needs.

I work collaboratively with you, adapting to whatever circumstances arise, to ensure you feel informed and confident in making decisions about your body, your birth, and your baby. My aim is to support you and your family in the ways that matter most to you.

  • When I come to your home, I come as a guest. This cultivates a relationship of greater ease and trust, naturally developing in the privacy and comfort of your space. These intimate, unhurried appointments allow me to build a strong connection with you, your spouse, and your other children, reinforcing you and your family as central to your care.

Antenatal and postnatal appointments, and birth when planned, take place in your own home. I provide all referrals for pathology and imaging. Service areas include Bunbury, Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River and surrounds.

  • Giving birth at home offers an unparalleled sense of intimacy, allowing families to experience labour in a familiar and peaceful environment.  The integration of modern midwifery care into the homebirth setting is a distinct area of practice. My skills and approach are shaped by experience in both homebirth and hospital settings.

  • I am experienced in facilitating water births and will provide you with a birth pool (at no extra charge) should you choose to have the option of labouring or giving birth in water.

  • In some circumstances, medical doctors might form part of your care team. Navigating medical appointments, understanding complex medical information, and making informed decisions during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum can feel overwhelming. While providing you with midwifery care, I can help you navigate the maternity system, communicate complicated medical jargon, support whatever time you need for consideration and ensure you fully understand all of your options. I am your dedicated advocate.

With extensive experience across multiple Southwest hospitals, I have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the local public maternity services. I maintain strong, respectful relationships with my midwifery and obstetric colleagues if collaboration or transfer is required at any time.

  • Using my post-graduate research skills, I have the ability to engage with current evidence and communicate this information to clients. With a focus on education, I aim to empower you with knowledge to make informed decisions.

My practice recognises the human right to bodily autonomy, the right to informed consent and the right to refusal.

FAQ’s

  • Bunbury, Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River, and surrounds. Please contact me if you are unsure about your specific area.

  • Privately practicing midwives are self-employed. In this way, their professional obligations are to the professional regulatory body of AHPRA, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and you as their client. This contrasts with hospital employed midwives who are not directly employed by you and have an extra layer of professional obligation to their employer, the hospital service.

Privately practicing midwives often have the capacity to offer services such as antenatal care, home births, labour support, and postnatal care, in a more individualised and holistic manner. Private midwives may work alone or in small groups, providing continuity of care to women throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. They typically operate on a fee-for-service basis. Privately practicing midwives often collaborate with obstetricians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care. Following an extra course of approved study, under National Law all privately practicing midwives are endorsed to prescribe medications and provide referrals for pathology and imaging.

  • Ideally, care commences as early as possible during your pregnancy to give us time to build a relationship.  Pregnancy care can commence from conception, no referral is required.  I also only take a small number of clients per month, so getting in early might be a good idea.  However, things always change so please don’t hesitate to reach out regardless of your gestation.  I will always talk to you to see what we can do.

  • A GP referral is not required to hire a private midwife.

  • Not necessarily. Some women have existing medical conditions or new conditions that arise during pregnancy where there may be a recommendation to see a doctor for consultation or referral. Some women have no indication to see a doctor at all.  If you consent to seeing a doctor, it does not change the care that you receive from your private midwife.  I still provide continuous antenatal and postpartum care, with what’s referred to as “shared care”, where you might also have some engagement with a medical professional.  With your consent, the medical doctor/team and I can liaise regarding your ongoing care, while I continue to provide midwifery care and advocate for your choices.

  • Yes.  As an endorsed midwife I have the capacity to prescribe medications and directly refer you for any pathology tests and imaging you may choose to have.

  • These are complex case by case scenarios to discuss in detail.  However, in some cases planned home birth does move into hospital.  If this occurs, I will remain present as a support person, continuing to provide emotional and practical support, and advocacy.  This is a key feature of my care, where upon transfer the hospital-based midwives provide the necessary clinical care, while I provide non-clinical care to you and your supports.  You will be admitted into the hospital as a public patient under Medicare.

  • Yes. I understand that hiring a private midwife is a significant investment. Please contact me to discuss your individual situation.
